Learn how the commodification of health care affects the behavior of all groups of actors in the system, including physicians, medical schools, health systems, insurers, manufacturers, scientists, government, and patients and their families. This presentation outlines specific, substantial interventions with all of these groups have the potential to mitigate deterrents to change.

Participants are expected to watch the video, reflect on its content, and complete the CEU self-assessment and CEU evaluation. Only upon completing this process will a participant's continuing education certificate be generated. The estimated time a learner will need to complete this self-study activity is 60 minutes. 

This activity is approved for continuing education for physicians, nurses, and dietitians.

Objectives:

  • Identify the factors that make it difficult to fix major problems with the American health care system. 
  • Identify some specific measures that can be taken to mitigate these problems and the deterrents to change.

Requirements for successful completion: Participants will be awarded contact hours commensurate with participation after completion of the post-test with a score of 70% or higher.
