Learn about the pathogenesis of the three types of diabetes, main dietary approaches to diabetes management and reversal, and the guidelines and research available to help patients reverse their diabetes.

Participants are expected to watch the video, reflect on its content, and complete the CEU self-assessment and CEU evaluation. Only upon completing this process will a participant's continuing education certificate be generated. The estimated time a learner will need to complete this self-study activity is 45 minutes. 

This activity is approved for continuing education for physicians, nurses, and dietitians.

The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate the key features of type 1, 1.5, and 2 diabetes and their pathogenesis.
  • Display a deeper understanding of how dietary approaches are used in the management and reversal of type 2 diabetes, with very low-calorie diets, low-carbohydrate (including ketogenic) and whole food, plant-based approaches critically appraised and understood.
  • Describe key guidelines and practical tools that will be appropriate for their patients to try when aiming to reverse type 2 diabetes.

Requirements for successful completion: Participants will be awarded contact hours commensurate with participation after completion of the post-test with a score of 70% or higher.
